Meridian M3900 Series Snap-in Accessories

M3900 Series Snap-in Accessories
Overview

Nortel M3900 Series Snap-in Accessories expand the features and services of the display-based M3900 Digital Telephones. These easily installed snap-in cartridges are:  Analog Terminal Adapter, External Alerter and Recording Interface, Personal Directory PC Utility, Computer Telephony Integration Adapter, and Full Duplex Handsfree Module.

Key Features:
  • Meridian Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) provides an analog connection directly through a M3900 series phone for an economical analog connection to devices such as Fax machines, Laptop or PC modems.
  • Meridian External Alerter and Recording Interface provides call-in-progress or ringing indication through a connection to an external alerting device, such as a loud bell or flashing light.
  • Personal Directory PC Utility provides a fast and convenient way to transfer the directory contents from one telephone to another or create the contents of the Personal Directory by entering it into a PC then downloading to the telephone.
  • Computer Telephony Integration Adapter (CTIA) and accompanying TAPI software allows a user to dial from TAPI compliant software applications such as Outlook and ACT.
  • Full Duplex Handsfree Module for the M3904 provides the ability to conduct two-way simultaneous conversations in Handsfree mode.

Features & Benefits

The snap-in cartridge style accessories connect to the rear of the M3900 Series telephone via the Accessory Connection Module, and the Expansion Modules connect to the M3904 and M3905 through a 10-pin connection port. Combined, these accessories provide the services and features described below.

  • Accessory Connection Module (ACM)
    • The ACM allows the connection of the M3900 series cartridge style accessories to the M3902, M3903, M3904 and M3905 phone models. The ACM fits conveniently into the telephone footstand and includes a cable that attaches to the back of the phone. Meridian Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA)
    • The ATA provides an analog connection directly through a M3900 series phone, offering customers the following benefits:
      • Saves customers time and money by eliminating the requirement to run separate analog lines to the desktop, and the use of separate analog line card ports within the system
      • Offers customers a value-added, integrated desktop solution, providing an economical analog connection to devices such as Fax machines, Laptop or PC modems (including convenient Internet access), and 500/2500 sets
      • Enhances desktop user productivity by providing simultaneous use of the M3900 series phone and the analog device
    • The M3900 series ATA is capable of receiving and passing DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) or dial pulse. The ATA is also capable of supporting modem communication rates of up to 33.6 Kbps.
  • Meridian External Alerter and Recording Interface
    • This multi-purpose device provides call-in-progress or ringing indication through a connection to an external alerting device, such as a loud bell or flashing light. External alerting devices are ideal for signaling incoming calls in noisy environments such as manufacturing or warehouse areas. The External Alerter and Recording Interface also provides a convenient interface for recording telephone calls at the desktop. As the Interface's ring relay contact, call status (off-hook) relay contact and audio recording operate independently, this device will support simultaneous external ringing, call in progress indication and recording.
  • Personal Directory PC Utility
    • The Personal Directory PC Utility provides a fast and convenient way to create the contents of the Personal Directory by connecting the M3904. Once the directory names and numbers are entered into the PC, the directory can be downloaded to the telephone. The Personal Directory PC Utility also provides a convenient way to transfer the directory contents from one telephone to another.
  • Key-based Expansion Module (KBA)
    • The Key-based Expansion Module provides an additional 22 keys for any combination of lines and features, which can be added to M3904 and M3905 models. Up to two Key-based Expansion Modules can be added to each set for a total of 44 additional keys.
  • Display-based Expansion Module (DBA)
    • The Display-based Expansion Module expands the number of lines and features available using self-labeling soft keys. This device is a plug-in hardware module containing eight soft-labeled keys for lines or features and can be attached to a M3904 and M3905 models. The soft key label field is 10 characters in length. A fixed "Page" key allows three pages of eight features to be programmed for a total of 24 programmable features or lines. Visual indication is provided to indicate which page of the soft-labeled programmable feature keys is in use.
  • Computer Telephony Integration Adapter (CTIA)
    • The Computer Telephony Integration Adapter (CTIA) and accompanying TAPI software allows a user with a PC connected to the CTIA installed on the M3900 series digital telephone to dial out from TAPI compliant software applications such as Outlook and ACT. The CTIA is only supported on the Meridian 1.
  • Full Duplex Handsfree Module
    • With Phase 3 M3904 sets (new in 2002), a Full Duplex Handsfree Module is now available. Please note that this module only works with the Phase 3 M3904. The Full Duplex Handsfree Module cannot be used with the Phase I or Phase II M3904 models.
