Meridian 1 Option 81C

Overview:

Meridian 1 Option 61-81CMeridian 1 Option 81C delivers traditional voice and Voice over IP (VoIP) communications for large enterprises requiring from 200 to 16,000 lines. With five-nines reliability, the Meridian 1 Option 81C offers a broad set of applications and features, including digital and IP phones, traditional and unified messaging, IP gateways, call centers, PC-based call management, 802.11 Wireless communications, intelligent remote solutions and support for multimedia communications.

Key Features:
  • Internal 622 Mbps OC-12 switching fabric supports scalable growth up to 16,000 lines.
  • Redundant Pentium-based call processor core delivers up to 320,000 Busy Hour Call Completions (BHCC) supporting the most robust environments.
  • Supports Voice over IP (VoIP) with IP Gateways and telephones.
  • Offers flexibility, scalability, and cost savings with modular client/server architecture.
  • Delivers powerful networking features for public, private and multi-switch networks, including ISDN Q.Sig and VPN access.

Features & Benefits:

  • Ideally Suited for Large to Very Large Enterprises: Scalability ranging from 200 to 16,000 users.
  • Five-nines Reliability: Redundant call processing core, based on Compact PCI bus and Intel Pentium II call processor designs delivers the added measure of reliability for customers in highly mission-critical environments.
  • Dual, Internal OC-12 SONET Ring Switching Architecture: Supporting scalability up to 16,000 lines, the architecture, known as Fiber Network Fabric (FNF), comes standard with new Option 81C systems and is available for installed base Option 81 and 81C systems as an upgrade. Adds additional measure of switching reliability as should one internal node or an entire internal ring fail, the redundant ring has bandwidth (622 Mbps) to assume support of all lines—up to 16,000. This makes Meridian 1 Option 81C ideally suited to communications environments that are highly mission-critical.
  • Option 81C Segmented Bus Extension (SBE) Architecture: Uses the cost-effective Superloop Network Card as does Meridian 1 Option 61C for timeslot provisioning. These cards provide maximum flexibility and reduced upgrade costs as business needs expand. With Superloop Network Cards, additional timeslots can be provisioned for higher traffic environments, such as call centers, or to critical network links such as T-1 connections, to provide for maximum responsiveness and availability. Lower traffic environments can be provisioned with fewer timeslots for greater cost-effectiveness and reduced footprint. The result is maximum flexibility, at a port level, to meet the needs of the business as it changes.
  • Scalable IP Telephony Solutions: With support for ITG Trunk, Line and Wireless IP Gateways, IP telephones, and 802.11 Wireless IP handsets and devices.
  • PC System Management: Optivity Telephony Manager provides businesses with a powerful suite of Windows-based applications that enable traffic analysis studies, Meridian digital and IP telephone configuration, call tracking, and billing—either on site or remotely over the web.
  • Flexible Remote Solutions: Meridian 1 Option 81C Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE) supports the Remote Office 9150/9110/9115 portfolio which bring flexible, feature rich, and powerful branch office and telecommuter remote solutions to the enterprise. All three Remote Office offerings support both traditional voice and Voice over IP (VoIP) communications at the remote location. Remote Office 9150, for the branch office, supports up to 32 users at the location per Remote Office Unit. Remote Office 9110 and 9115 are for individual telecommuters with the 9110 supporting M2000 series digital telephones and the 9115 supporting M3900 series digital telephones. For larger scale remote needs, where right-of-way exists, support is via Fiber Remote (up to 256 users at the remote site) or Fiber Remote Multi-IPE (up to 1024 users at remote site). Both products use dark fiber (single or multi-mode), with distances of up to 25 miles supported. For remote needs without right-of-way, Option 81C supports both Mini-Carrier Remote (up to 128 users) and Carrier Remote (up to 1024 users). Both products leverage public facilities (i.e., T-1 and E-1 connections). Mini-Carrier Remote and Carrier Remote can support distances of up to 4000 miles (6437 km) from the Meridian 1 Option 81C.
  • Keycode Software Activation: Provides a software delivery system which enables feature packages and terminal number levels to be activated via keycodes. All of the software features of the release are loaded onto the Meridian 1 Option 81C system, and those features desired can be activated. Keycodes also address adding or modifying features as business needs change or expand. This provides much quicker and easier order fulfillment. For new X11 Software releases, delivery of the features to the Option 81C is via CDROM. For updates of the current X11 release, they can be obtained via web download.
  • Easy-to-Use Digital and IP Telephones: Meridian 1 digital telephone portfolio brings all the powerful features and services to each desktop, helping employees communicate better and improving productivity company wide. Choose from a wide selection of M3900 series telephones to match the specific needs of each employee. If seeking to bring Voice over IP (VoIP) to the desktop, the IP Phone 2004 and IP Softphone 2050 provide the robust feature sets of our traditional digital telephone portfolio along with IP telephony administrative advantages, such as the lower-cost adds, moves, and changes inherent with IP Telephone administration.
  • Effective Voice Messaging: Gives the tools to provide personal and professional attention to everyone who contacts the company—whether by phone or by fax. For unified messaging, CallPilot brings email, voice mail, and fax management to each employee's desktop PC. Mailbox management is point and click. Meridian 1 Option 81C also supports traditional voice mail solutions. Meridian Mail EC Option provides voice mail messaging as well as a wide variety of other features for efficient message management. And with Meridian Mail networking, cost-effective and efficient voice messaging can be provided to any location within the network, delivering the same features to everyone for simpler communications.
  • Call Center Management: With the Nortel web portal solutions portfolio, take advantage of the latest advancements in skill base routing and customer relationship management applications. Whether it's for a workgroup call center with Symposium Call Center Express or the most robust of call centers with Symposium Call Center Server. The Nortel portal solutions portfolio improves operating efficiency with functionality that delivers the best in customer service.
  • Powerful Networking: With its powerful suite of Integrated Services Digital Networking features and standards support with ISDN Q.Sig, Option 81C is particularly well suited for use within the network as a centralized hub switch. ISDN is a set of standards that is capable of transmitting fully digital communications (voice, data, fax, and image) over the same facilities. With Q.Sig support, these transmissions can also be across the network, even if the switches are made up of multiple vendor platforms (provided these vendors also support the Q.Sig standard). Meridian 1 Option 81C robust ISDN feature set benefits the business as it expands to multiple sites with centralized services (for administrative savings) and distributed intelligence (for added system resiliency and customer responsiveness). Examples of centralized services across the network include Uniform Dialing Plan along with Centralized Messaging Services, which standardize user interfaces while simplifying administration.
  • Modular, Flexible, and Easily Accommodating to Future Technologies: ITG trunk, line and 802.11 Wireless IP gateways, in conjunction with IP Telephones and Voice over Wireless IP devices enable the adoption of VoIP at a pace that's right for the business—one card at a time supporting a small number of users or with full deployment supporting all users.
  • Over 450 Software Features: Available with X11 Release 25 software. As business grows, features that are integrated into daily business practices, such as voice messaging or automatic call distribution (ACD), can be carried forward to larger Meridian 1 systems, eliminating re-training costs.
  • Common Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE) Cards. Used on all Meridian 1 system options to deliver true investment protection to the enterprise and is particularly important for small to medium-sized businesses, whose needs can change rapidly.
