Overview:

Meridian 1 Option 61-81CMeridian 1 Option 61C is a carrier-grade platform supporting both traditional voice and Voice over IP (VoIP) communications for enterprises requiring from 200 to 2000 lines. With "five-nines" reliability, the Meridian 1 Option 61C delivers applications and features including support for traditional and IP telephones, IP and 802.11 Wireless IP Gateways, Unified Messaging, Call Center applications, PC-Based System Management, remote solutions, and multimedia communications.

Key Features:
  • Scalable, distributed platform for seamless growth from 200 to 2000 lines.
  • Modular client/server architecture for flexibility, scalability, and cost savings.
  • Redundant call processing core for extra reliability in mission-critical enterprises.
  • Supports Voice over IP with IP gateways and telephones.
  • Offers powerful networking features for public, private, and multi-switch networks, including ISDN Q.Sig and VPN access.

Features & Benefits:

  • Ideally Suited for Medium to Large Enterprises: Scalability ranging from 200 to 2000 users.
  • "Five-Nines" Reliability: Redundant call processing core that supports Changeover Memory Arbitration (CMA). With CMA architecture, if one call processor, storage/drive unit or memory unit fails within the call processing core, functionality is immediately assumed by the redundant element, providing an added measure of insurance for mission-critical enterprise environments.
  • Robust Call Processing: Top-of-the-line commercial Motorola 68060E Call Processing Unit (CPU), offering 135,000 Busy Hour Call Completions. Installed base systems can upgrade to this processor with a simple card exchange.
  • Scalable IP Telephony Solutions: With support for Internet Telephony Gateway Trunk, Internet Telephony Gateway Line and 802.11 Wireless IP Gateways; IP telephones, and 802.11 Wireless IP telephony handsets/devices.
  • Option 61C Segmented Bus Extension (SBE) Architecture: Uses the cost-effective Superloop Network Card. With this architecture, provisioning of additional timeslots for higher traffic environments such as call centers or critical network links, such as T-1 connections, to provide maximum responsiveness and availability. In turn, lower traffic environments can be provisioned with fewer timeslots for greater cost-effectiveness and reduced footprint. The result is maximum flexibility at the port level to meet the needs of business as it changes.
  • PC System Management: Optivity Telephony Manager provides a powerful suite of Windows-based applications that enables conduction of traffic analysis, configuration of Meridian digital and IP telephones, and performance of call tracking and billing functions—either on site or remotely over the web.
  • Flexible Remote Solutions: Meridian 1 Option 61C Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE) supports the Remote Office 9150/9110/9115 portfolio, bringing flexible, feature rich, and powerful branch office and telecommuter remote solutions to enterprise. All three offerings support both traditional voice and Voice over IP (VoIP) communications at the remote location. Remote Office 9150 supports branch offices with up to 32 users per 9150 Remote Office Unit. Remote office 9110/9115 support individual telecommuters, with the 9110 supporting M2000 series digital telephones and the 9115 supporting M3900 series digital telephones. For larger scale remote needs, where right-of-way exists, Fiber Remote (up to 256 users at the remote site) or Fiber Remote Multi-IPE (up to 1024 users at remote site) can be deployed. Both products use dark fiber (single or multi-mode) with distances of up to 25 miles supported. For remotes without right-of-way access, Option 61C also supports Mini-Carrier Remote (up to 128 users) and Carrier Remote (up to 1024 users) products, which leverage public facilities (i.e., T-1 and E-1 connections). Mini-Carrier Remote and Carrier Remote can support distances of up to 4000 miles (6437 km) from the Option 61C.
  • Keycode Software Activation: Provides a software delivery system which enables Feature Packages and Terminal Number levels to be activated by keycodes, allowing for much quicker and easier order fulfillment. X11 Software release upgrades are handled via PCMCIA cards. All of the software features of the release are then loaded onto the Meridian 1 Option 61C system, and just those features desired can be activated by the business. Keycodes also address adding or modifying features as the business needs change or expand.
  • Easy-to-Use Digital and IP Telephones: Meridian 1 digital telephones bring all the powerful features and services of the Meridian 1 Option 61C to each desktop, helping employees communicate better and improving productivity company-wide. Choose from a wide selection of M3900 series telephones to match the specific needs of each employee. If plannning to bring Voice over IP (VoIP) to the desktop, the IP Phone 2004 and IP Softphone 2050 provide the robust feature sets of the M3900 digital telephone portfolio with IP telephony administrative advantages, such as the lower-cost adds, moves, and changes inherent with IP Telephone administration.
  • Effective Voice Messaging: Gives the tools to provide personal and professional attention to everyone who contacts the company—whether by phone or by fax. For unified messaging, CallPilot brings email, voice mail, and fax management to each employee's desktop PC. Mailbox management is point and click. Meridian 1 Option 61C also supports traditional voice mail solutions with the Meridian Mail portfolio. Meridian Mail EC Option provides voice mail messaging as well as a wide variety of other features for efficient message management. And with Meridian Mail networking, cost-effective and efficient voice messaging can be provided to any location within the network, delivering the same features to everyone for simpler communications.
  • Call Center Management: With the Nortel web portal solutions portfolio, business can take advantage of the latest advancements in skill-base routing and customer relationship management applications. Whether it's for a workgroup call center with Symposium Call Center Express or the most robust of call centers with Symposium Call Center Server, the Nortel portal solutions portfolio improves operating efficiency with functionality that delivers the best in customer service.
  • Powerful Networking: Particularly well suited for use within the network as a centralized hub, with its powerful suite of Integrated Services Digital Networking features and standards support with ISDN Q.Sig. ISDN is a set of standards that is capable of transmitting fully digital communications (voice, data, fax, and image) over the same facilities. With Q.Sig support, these transmissions can also be across the network, even if the switches are made up of multiple vendor platforms (provided these vendors also support the Q.Sig standard). Option 61C's robust ISDN feature set benefits the business as it expands to multiple sites with centralized services (for administrative savings) and distributed intelligence (for added system resiliency and customer responsiveness). Examples of centralized services across the network include Uniform Dialing Plan and Centralized Messaging Services, which standardize user interfaces while simplifying administration.
  • Modular, Flexible, and Easily Accommodating to Future Technologies: Internet Telephony Gateways, in conjunction with IP telephones and Wireless IP telephony handsets/devices, in conjunction with IP telephones and Voice over Wireless IP devices, enable the adoption of Voice over IP (VoIP) at a pace that's right for business—one card at a time supporting a small number of users or with full deployment supporting all of the users.
  • Over 450 Software Features: As business grows, features that are integrated into daily business practices, such as voice messaging or automatic call distribution (ACD), can be carried forward to larger Meridian 1 systems, eliminating re-training costs.
  • Common Intelligent Peripheral Equipment Cards (IPE): Used on all Meridian 1 system options, delivering true investment protection to the enterprise. This is particularly important for small to medium sized businesses, whose needs can change rapidly.
