Overview:
Meridian Mail Net Gateway is a networking solution that enables users to connect multiple voice mail systems using private networks or the public Internet. Designed around VPIM (Voice Profile for Internet Mail) standards, Net Gateway treats voicemail just like regular email—enabling easy and efficient transfer of voice messages through any type of network that is compliant with TCP/IP Internet communications standards.
Net Gateway yields the capability to exchange messages between Meridian Mail, Norstar Voice Mail, and any other systems that use standard networks as a transportation backbone. Net Gateway takes messages sent through Meridian's Enterprise Networking system, converts them to industry standard electronic mail standards and delivers them through a company's wide area network (WAN) or the Internet to another site. Any system that is compliant with VPIM standards— such as Norstar Mail 3.0—can be attached to this larger voice mail network.

For additional security, Meridian Mail Net Gateway is designed to use optional encryption systems from Entrust Technologies. Entrust has produced a variety of award-winning security systems for public key encryption, user authentication, digital signatures, and more.
Entrust programs work between any two systems on the extended Net Gateway network that have purchased and installed Entrust software. Each site must have a unique key managed by the Entrust application.
