Benefits

  • Leadership & Innovation:
    • Incorporating leading technologies such as SIP, enables customers to develop competitive advantage. With SIP customers can readily implement multimedia applications that enhance user interactions, collaboration tools that increase business agility, and personalization capabilities that simplify communications and increase productivity. As an industry standard, SIP allows a higher degree of interoperability and deployment flexibility within a converged network.
  • Service Ubiquity:
    • Provides centralized access to information and communication services on demand. Supports client/location mobility with support of 2210/2211 802.11 wireless phones and Mobile Voice Client 2050. Increases productivity with expanded telephony features supported on IP phones including Personal Call Directory, Redial and Call Logs and the introduction of next generation converged desktop clients. Supports tighter integration with MCS 5100 client and IM usability enhancements including H.263 video support for soft clients, and IM chat, screening and routing capability.
  • Geographic Flexibility:
    • Allows extreme flexibility in placing resources where they're needed most as well as easing installation and management challenges. Distributed, survivable, and redundant resources such as call servers and a wide range of supported media gateways can be placed closest to where they are needed and used most, yet still managed from a central location.
  • Business Continuity:
    • Delivering added resiliency and reliability, Release 4.0 redundant call servers can be geographically dispersed as well as provide live mirroring over a layer 2 network to ensure rapid recovery from site or service failures. Security & QoS monitoring enhancements including client firmware updates, new SNMP alarms, increased support of VLANs, VPN and NAT, and new E911 call reporting features, allow organizations to protect themselves against business and communication service disruptions.
  • Seamless Scalability:
    • The modular design of systems within Nortel's converged business architecture enables flexible deployment options and maximum scalability. Release 4.0 call servers increase support from 10,000 to 15,000 users per call server. H.323. virtual trunk support has expanded from 384 to 1200 virtual connections between systems enhanced with H.245 tunneling signals or up to 1800 connections per signalling server with the new SIP protocol. ESN Call Routing has been expanded to support from 1,000 to 16,000 locations.
