Testing Your Telephone Wiring:

Follow this procedure to determine if the problem is in Ironton Telephone Company's line or in your inside wiring.

Unscrew the Network Interface cover at the Customer Access point with a screwdriver and open. (see Network Interface Image.)

  1. Disconnect the modular plug from the test jack. This will disconnect your inside wiring from Ironton Telephone Company's network.
    1. Check the plug and jack for signs of corrosion.
    2. If the jack or plug is corroded contact Ironton Telephone company for repair.
  2. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, then plug in the base cord from the known working telephone. You are now connected directly to Ironton Telephone Company's network.
  3. Try to use the telephone.
    1. If the problem still exists, it is in Ironton Telephone Company's lines. Contact Ironton Telephone Repair.
    2. If the problem is gone, you're trouble is with your inside wiring, telephone equipment, or jacks. You may make the repairs yourself, or you may contact Ironton Telephone Company, an electrician or someone else.
  4. One you have finished your test, disconnect your telephone and re-insert the original modular plug securely. Close the cover and screw the fastener down until the cover is tight.
